We're Getting Hitched

How We Met

Mylasia and Jakolby met while working at Kroger together in Galveston, TX back in 2020. They went from being work aqcuaintances to more and spent the summer hanging out on the beach, taking road trips, and being together whenever possible. They then weathered a year of long-distance relationship when Mylasia moved to Oregon for work. Thankfully, Jakolby followed her a year later and the rest is history.

The Proposal

Jakolby had spent months trying to plan the perfect proposal for Mylasia, but every single plan he made felt too specific and didn't really fit with how he wanted to propose. After getting the ring that Mylasia found during a Portland trip, Jakolby carried it in his pocket any chance he got. During a trip down to Lincoln City, Oregon, the couple went for a hike on a beautiful trail to the top of Cascade Head. At the end of the hike, through a very heavy weight of nerves and excitement, Jakolby knelt on one knee and asked Mylasia to marry him. Mylasia spent a few minutes screaming joyously, but happily agreed. There were no plans for photography in this instance, but the couple was surprised to discover another hiker saw what was happening and documented the event from afar. After everything cooled down, the rest of the day was absolutely perfect. The weather was beautiful, the sunset was astounding, and Mylasia even got to see a whale from the sunset viewpoint. The whale even chuffed what looked like a heart-shape of mist.

Our Journey Together

Jakolby and Mylasia have spent the last 4 years building a loving and cozy home. Within a few months of living together, they adopted a cat which they named Nugget. Nugget remains to be the light of their life and is an extremely spoiled cat. The couple have gone on countless hikes throughout the Oregon Coast together, enjoy swimming at a local aquatic center, spend their free time watching sitcoms and knitting/crocheting, and enjoying the beautiful place they get to call home. Mylasia has enjoyed documenting her copious bouts of tidepooling, birding walks, and nature as a whole. Jakolby spends most of his time working on school and reading. In fact, if you're reading this, Jakolby actually built this website!
